“Forgive.” “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34. Jesus ability to forgive from the cross is a mighty example of expressing love and kindness toward oneself first of all. It doesn’t stop there. We are doubly blessed for extending kindness and love to another when we forgive and set others free.

Nevertheless, sometimes we hang onto unforgiving and energized thoughts contrary to unconditional love. Yet, Jesus didn’t have time to spare if he wanted to move on from the cross free of all worldly obligation and limitation.

Do we? Can we continue for one more minute, hour or day in a consciousness where unforgiving thoughts occupy our heart and mind and for how long?

Whatever time and attention we can give to clear our hearts of lingering unforgiving items will give us so much in return. Is there a price we can put on having peace of mind and an uncluttered heart empty of negation and fully ready to love.

For certain, it is highly worth the effort we as individuals give to clearing our whole self and life of unforgiving actions, words, ideas, notions, thoughts, and feelings of person, place. or thing. Really, we are also forgiving ourselves, another or others and letting go of what happened in the past.

There are some things we can do encouraging forgiveness. Reading the Lord’s Prayer can bring us into the forgiving flow. Also journaling or writing out on paper about our thoughts and perhaps struggles with forgiveness. Another idea to help the forgiving process might be having a private conversation in prayer with self or the person(s) or thing being forgiven. Another plus is the priority and importance Jesus’ teachings placed on the act and idea of forgiving and how cleansing and liberating forgiveness is for our soul and entire being.

Definitely, we can call on the indwelling light of our inner Christ nature. From inside our self we can call forth the wholeness and all-loving ability of our Divine power and transformative Spirit and exercise complete forgiveness. In this way, we can be released from anything that binds us to the past. Hence we set ourselves, everything, any one and everyone free of yesterday to live fully and buoyantly in the heavenly now.
