Ash Wednesday

I ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE AND OPPORTUNITY OF TODAY. I TAKE NEW STEPS TOWARD SPIRITUAL UNFOLDMENT.

“THIS IS a “first” day, the first day of Lent. Firsts are special. In each first there can be a challenge and an opportunity. This is especially true of Ash Wednesday, the beginning day of the Lenten season.

“The particular regimen we follow during these days before Easter is a matter of personal preference. Many dedicate this time to letting go unwanted habits of thought or unwanted habits of living. Many think of Lent as a time of spiritual preparation; a time of using Truth ideas.

“Let us wipe away any depressing thoughts. Let us cleanse our heart of prejudice, free our conscience from any burden of guilt. Let us invite into our thoughts the brightness, the glory, and the promise of the (Christ Light.) Let the (Divine) love fill our heart. Let the (Divine) forgiving Spirit surround, enfold, uphold us. As we do these things, we are answering the challenge, accepting the opportunity of this first day of Lent.”

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Mt. 5:6.
