“Tense Thoughts”
I begin with some of my previous writing (first two paragraphs) followed by a quote by Frances Wilshire.
“Begin your prayer practice of uniting by divine words that uplift, create an opening in your mind, body and entire consciousness for God, a blessed unity and experience.
“Turn from the uncomfortable into the grace of steadiness on all that encompasses divinity: Love, compassion, safe-care, carefree, deserving, open hearted to be filled with the components of God and the stillness to receive the pure essence of Spirit divine which equals bliss, Amen.” “Find a place inside where there’s joy, and joy will burn out the pain.” –Joseph Campbell.
“Relaxation comes from letting go of tense thoughts.” –Frances Wilshire. It sounds so easy to let go, just let the troublesome thoughts go. It is a wise idea; however, one which takes inner determination and willingness. It is the premise of the Prayer for Protection by James Dillet Freeman. The prayer sets our mind on uplifted ground and turns our attention away from the snarl of concerning thoughts.
We have the power and potential to loose and let go less than positive, upbuilding thoughts, feelings and ideas. Inside us, we have what it takes to lead our mind, our feeling nature into more calming and harmonious knowing and feeling.
There was one point this week when the Facebook Feed was filled with emotion, opinions and thoughts about the Texas border situation and the treatment of children. Then one of my recent Facebook Friends sent me a message not happy about someone’s comments on our current President over the Border handling.
When I read her post something in me said oh my, she is upset. I had the feeling I was holding her heart while reading her words and having thoughts about her response.
Suddenly something came over me. A wave of calm as if God sent me a soothing energy that had me wanting to immediately become still, breathe and calm. I wanted to honor the FB Friend’s thoughts and emotions. She was already stirred.
Would it have been wise to have me join in with her upset. She also piled on top of the border issue another contentious subject to do with children. Likewise, the wave of calming energy was exactly what I needed.
In the serene space of my heart I responded: Dear FB friend, emotions are flying. Facebook is filled with emotional responses, beliefs, suggestions, anger and heavy sentiments. I feel as if the answer for me is to go into the silence and rest in the highest wisdom and peace. I want to be with God thoughts and center. She understood.
This was a mini spiritual experience for me, a divine intervention. The Facebook Friend is a new friend who I am beginning to know more about. It would not have been wise to disagree or add my preferences to an already volatile climate of opinions and comments. Call it the Divine Spirit or my higher energy. The presence within gave the gift of filling me with a desire to be still. I am ever grateful.
Let’s practice pausing for the God nature inside. The answer to any dilemma is not more tenseness or opinions. The answer is heeding to our higher nature, an internal divine guidance to respond and be in calmness, peace where we think, act and are righteousness and right action.
The solution and answer is then a divine solution where everyone is honored for what they believe and connection is furthered between one person and another not severed and broken.
In prayer we breathe, take a God break and journey within to the highest and finest God-ness and wisdom. Being in the peace of our spiritual nature is prayer. Peacefulness rises in us when we allow for an opening inside ourselves. We turn and rest in calming thoughts with tranquil silence, feeling our divine essence and healing power.
“The light of God surrounds us; the love of God enfolds us; the power of God protects us (and unites us); the presence of God watches over us; wherever we are God is and all is well, Amen.” Poem by James Dillet Freeman, “The Prayer for Protection.”
We are divine light, love, power and presence as enlightened expressions and daughters and sons of the Divine, Amen.
