Forgive
“Forgive, the master teacher Jesus said: Not just 7 times, but 70 x 7, or 77x depending on how you translate it.”
“Given the symbolism in the bible for 7, meaning completeness or wholeness, then it means, that we are supposed to forgive completely, totally, wholly, without reservation,… eternally.” —anonymous Episcopal minister.
“We cannot change the past, but we can change our attitude toward it. Uproot guilt and plant forgiveness. Tear out arrogance and seed humility. Exchange love for hate — thereby, making the present comfortable and the future promising.” —Maya Angelou
The cofounders of the Unity Movement, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, upon learning of New Thought and the power of release, decided not to retire for the night, every night until they each had forgiven everyone and everything they had been holding negative thoughts toward–they forgave and released the thing, issue, or person(s) from their minds and hearts. They forgave completely and thoroughly cleansed their minds with forgiving love. The Fillmore’s experienced and taught a Nightly Forgiveness and Releasing Practice.
Whether we feel justified for our angry, resentfulness, or unforgiving thoughts and feelings, it does not matter to the negative charge of our uncompassionate state of mind. It affects our body, mind, heart, and affairs. It is draining on our entire being. Our thinking can become fuzzy and hindered.
Whatever you choose to do to release and clear away hurt and the negative cycle of non-forgiveness, begin to do so as quickly as possible. It may take time to become free of unforgiving thoughts and feelings. Yet the process has begun in you. And freedom from lower energy and negation is beginning to take place throughout your body and life.
There are many techniques and practices to let go of the block of any merciless words and state of mind. One thing is for certain, it takes aligning with our Divinity and engaging our spiritual power to first of all forgive ourselves then all others. One technique I use is empathy. I remind myself how grateful I am to people, God, and life itself for being forgiven. I recall the need to begin the process of freeing negation by remembering and applying the divine law–to forgive first then we are forgiven and restored to wholeness.
It is also helpful to value the quality of love. Punishing thoughts prevent love from flowing. When we separate ourselves from love–we dim the greatest power in us. We always have grace. However, it is like a leaky water hose–the flow of water is weakened. Likewise, we want to stay at one with the power and presence of love. For love is the healer, our lifeline; it is who we are; it is God indwelling and omnipresence. It is unification with our true Light.
This deserves repeating–we each are vital to one another. Our thoughts and feelings, beliefs and ideas we hold influence the whole, affect all living and non living things. Forgive and you are forgiven!
I am restored in Love.
