Sounds like an uncommon way to look at people who rouse us. They can serve to wake us up in some way. When any of us is out of sorts, not having an easy time at the moment, receiving blessings from people could benefit and turn things around for us. 

When Catherine Ponder uses ‘their souls,’ she reminds us how everything and everyone are spiritually related. It could be us having an off day or not feeling well. Receiving a blessings and meeting with a compassionate person, may just change an off day to a better day and elevate our state of being. 

Furthermore, I recall when in freeway rush-hour bumper to bumper traffic how one car being courteous and giving-way can improve things for each surrounding car. So then, remembering how transformative it is to see things from a spiritual view-point and act from the light within us, brings heavenly blessedness on earth.
