Just received word — Two people I have known, one an associate and the other a homeless gentleman, have passed away. The homeless gent kept big dreams in his heart and daily visited a nearby Unity Church. He soon became a frequent visitor and member through his loyalty. He had no material offerings to give the church; yet, he consistently gave goodness from his heart. His enthusiasm for life and passionate dreams fed him when he had little food to eat. Unity too provided for him and gave him shelter during inclement weather. He did have a home owned and occupied by his mother. Unfortunately he seemed to avoid going there most of the time.

Furthermore, I will remember his Spirit of zeal and purpose. From these qualities he always had something to give and blessings to spread around. I’m not saying he nor his circumstances did not frustrate me at times; however, I soon looked past them and accepted his unique gift of presence and mode of living. I’m sure there will be an empty space at the Church without the towering homeless gent. Fortunately, the light he spread will continue to shine in our memories.

Moreover, our loyal associate who was a Unity Licensed Teacher is known in my heart by her undaunted energy for serving others. She loved to contribute and express her enthusiasm through words and actions. She did not lack aliveness and motivation to step out and take leadership roles as a teacher and organizer. I was enlivened by her ability to volunteer and inspire people by stepping forth as a Spiritual teacher and achiever.

Neither of these two people were perfect expressions at times. Nevertheless, getting to know both of them as the exceptional human beings they were, was highly rewarding. They both permanently taught me not to judge by appearances and to look past human frailties and love people for the treasures they bring to life and the indelible mark they make in our souls.
