July’s Thunder
We welcome July and the promise of time in the sun, occasions for fun and relaxing outdoors with possible vacation plans well under way. There is also the welcoming of a hopeful and frequent thunderstorm during the hot summer afternoons to cool down the Seventh Month of the year.
Right off we begin on July 1 with the Canadian’s special celebration known as Canada Day or Dominion Day. July 1867 Canada became a dominion of Great Britain and became closer to becoming a full fledged country, which she officially did in 1982.
Next up is America’s Fourth of July, Independence Day celebrations with colorful and loud picnics, parties, barbecues, and fireworks. Of course, also the celebration of our United States declaring its independence from Great Britain and the birth of our Nation on July 4, 1776. Thus, July 4, 2016 is America’s 240th birthday.
Also to be noted, the holy month of Ramadan having begun on June 5th, ends the evening of July 5th. And of interest, the Full Buck July Moon is on the 19th, also known as the full Thunder Moon with the prevalence of July thunderstorms. Curiously, July’s full moon is called the Buck Moon because Bucks are known to begin growing their antlers in July.
Hurrah, July 22 is National Hammock Day. So all of us without a hammock or a dilapidated one, make sure to have a fully functioning and comfy hammock to enjoy peaceful and lazy summer days in the shade especially on 7-22-16.
The month of July approaches its second to last day with the encouragement to extend ourselves to others and offer our unconditional friendship on July 30th, ‘International Day of Friendship.’ The international friendship day denotes having no boundaries or reservations by extending our friendliness and good will to all others regardless of race, religion, culture or any other reason. Specifically, one human being extending conviviality to another human being makes a happier and more peace-filled July and world. Enjoy your July!
