“Vulnerability Part 2”
“Only people who are capable of loving strongly can also suffer great sorrow. But this same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heals them.” Leo Tolstoy
The above quote by Tolstoy relates a principle of love’s great capability within us when we love much and when love seems to be lost. Yes, those times may come when we have attached love to something or someone and love seems to begin evaporating and disappear before our eyes.
Any time we encounter such an experience as love seemingly vanishing no matter how mild or dramatic, is an opportune moment to remember the Master Teacher’s remedy in John 7:24 to stay balanced and whole: Maintain our equilibrium and judge with right or spiritual judgment. (John 7:24: “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”)
Furthermore, during those times when we feel susceptible to the changing tides of things and people around us is the magnificent moment when we feel the temporary loss of that which we have loved while at the same time feeling the great love-ability within our nature, present and reachable inside us. Bring to mind quickly who we are as divine humans experiencing life. We bring forth within ourselves love’s power and nature in us, the ‘necessity of loving’ and being the expression of love.
Love never leaves us — it is the appearance of love escaping us that shakes us to our core. Love is a stabilizer and great equalizer. In times when appearances, scenes and people change around us, those things and dear ones we have relied on are not their like they were before. It is in the place within us hurting the most, to call on Divine Love, the love so ever present it never leaves us and is with us always.
What’s more, love does not change: We realize more and more of what love is and its great potential and availability within us, at work ever in the now present moment being and doing for us and through us, flowing through everything around us, no matter the situation.
In prayer let us realize this truth — We are one with Love; inseparable, and we are made of the power and presence of love. We are the essence of love; and love is our saving grace in normal times, challenging times and changeful occurrences. Love may take many forms and be expressed through multiple avenues and venues in all kinds of experiences. However, Love is of God and love does not change, it expands in us and through us. It knows how to heal, restore, renew, make new, regenerate and prosper through us while at the same time streaming to us, immediate and constant, Amen. Thank you dear God!
