Emotional Bank Account
Most of us have credit, debit, or checking accounts in which knowing our balances are crucial in maintaining good credit and financial well-being. When they get low we seek to replenish and raise the balance. What about our emotional bank account? Is it low, needing a rest period, or maybe our emotional wellness is feeling depleted?
Sometimes life brings us one emotional upset after another coming from several directions. When we find ourselves feeling drained in need of rest, we want to heed the inner emotional meter reporting a low emotional bank account. We need replenishment without delay.
If life is throwing a lot at us. We have the power and choice to stop catching what is being tossed our way. Withdraw attention from too much out there or outer focused living. Healing and balance come from within our being. Where our attention goes energy flows. When life tips with over-attention to worldly things, its revealing the need for balancing outer living with the inner life. Our wisdom will guide us and our inner life flow will balance and restore us.
Sometimes it’s as easy as calling a friend and asking for support and a listening ear. The answers reside within us. Through conversation and the good-will of a listening friend, answers become clear and we are able to shift gears and balance our emotional well-being account. Self-care is a necessity in maintaining balance between the inner and outer, the spiritual and material, the active and the restful times, and our thinking and feeling health and wholeness.
Giving attention to what we feel and need are vital in daily life. Our feelings are signals and guiding prompters telling us when we are in need of rebalancing the many compartments, expressive avenues, and roles that make up our day to day living. We have answers when we become aware of what we need and what we are feeling.
Remembering our spiritual energy is highest when we tune into ourselves and fill our emotional bank account by using our intuition and self-honesty. Then following through on what we need and the guidance of our feeling nature.
For our emotional and wholesome well-being, I have two supportive resources to share. The first is a book by Mary Mackenzie titled Peaceful Living; Daily Meditations for Living with Love, Healing, and Compassion. She is spiritually based and applies her insights of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to her writing. The second resource is the NVC website address, https://www.cnvc.org/. I learned of and applied NVC at Unity Seminary and practice Nonviolent Communication daily.
I stand with you in the achievement of balanced emotional well-being and spiritual wholeness.
