“Enough Power 1”
Some time ago my sister asked me, actually she intimated to me about feeling inadequate, not having enough power to stay together. She, recently divorced, did not know if she had within her the potential to recover. She felt weak to the avalanche of insufficiency her emotions were bringing to mind.
Naturally, I felt sadness and empathy for her. Nonetheless, something responded within me with the definite response — ‘yes’ you have the fullness of power within you to heal and recover from this unpleasant and life changing experience. Slowly and surely, she recovered and built a new life.
During Seminary many thought provoking feelings and challenging ideas would stir in me. I pondered my faith, testing my beliefs. Am I on the right path? Attending ministry is fertile ground for searching questions.
General life itself is ripe with moments and occasions, throwing us into questioning our values, even our religion and things and people we hold dear. Life challenges us to the core sometimes. We may feel if our beliefs are enough to rise above our doubts, fears and concerned feelings.
All that challenges us also contains great opportunity to discover ourselves anew. We ask big questions at the time we are confronted with large issues and problems. We think one way and life seems to be unfolding in another seemingly crazy way. At these times, we certainly may ask ourselves: “Do I have what it takes inside me to get through this gracefully, together and keep hope, faith and love in my heart?”
Still, there is an undaunted energy in every one of us. No matter the demons or the power outside of ourselves that seem scary and stronger than us. That’s when we want to stop, breathe and recall how love has strengthened us, how a force from within accompanied by an affirmative voice says “heavens look at all I have made it successfully through.”
Feel those times when a power rises from within convincing us: We have enough belief, we stand on a mighty ground of sufficiency.
