Finding the Rich Blessings in Challenging Experiences
“If we will be quiet and ready enough, we shall find compensation in every disappointment.” –Henry David Thoreau
Truth Message: The sooner I realized Christmas was more than what presents I received and began being open to feeling and experiencing the Spirit of Christmas the happier my life became. Also, the less disappointed I was at Christmastime.
Living life is an education. We think we understand it; then it makes fools out of us in those moments when our humanity believes it has life figured out.
Something in our life experience happens that change us for the better–even though it may not feel better in the middle of these life events. Maybe one, two, or three of such changeful events push something forward inside us and we see life from a higher vista. It’s the compensation and the journey of our soul in taking on more of its spirituality. The Spirit in us is the savior within bringing us to a new-found awareness and understanding. Life becomes richer; it’s not all about materiality anymore. Material things, physical people change, go from us, or become something different. However, our spirit sees us through and stabilizes these changeful moments.
When my husband’s brother died suddenly in his early 20’s, I was devastated. Months later with much introspection and openness to the spiritual view of things–I received the blessing of deeper understanding about the whole thing. But until that point of new realization, it was painful mixed with a deep yearning for insight into the human spirit and the gifts of spiritual knowing. Undeniably, tough experiences ready us and open a way in us for spiritual discovery and unfoldment.
