Give and Receive Love
“There is no remedy for love but to love more.” —Henry David Thoreau.
There is one spiritual inner quality and when expressed, raises up the giver and whomever receives or hears its words or vibes. Love is said to be the most powerful of energies in the Universe.
If we feel there is a lack of love and warmth in our lives — do put Thoreau’s quote into practice without delay. Yet, we might say something like this, ‘I am not demonstrative with my love’ or ‘I have no love to give.’ We may feel low or depleted in our capability to love.
However, Thoreau does not confine or limit love’s expression; neither should we. He is hinting at a profound point about love, we have it eternally within us and about us. Why? Because, God is Omnipresence as Love. Divine Spirit is everywhere present at every point and place on earth, in the Universe and in the midst of our being. God’s love is in our heart’s already whether we are alone or in a relationship with another.
Even, when you are on a walk alone out in nature, love is inside and with you. The presence of Divinity and the Love within you as your holy indwelling nature is love itself in its purest form. In truth you cannot be separated from love, divine Love. Now we feel an absence of love occasionally, particularly if a loving pet or person in our life is not present anymore. We may feel grief and a lack of love.
At these times, we remember love can never leave us. In truth we are forever one with love, for we are continuously one with God and heavenly love (which are one in the same).
In GoodNewsNetwork.org a story was told of a program in a certain prison where dogs were brought in for every person incarcerated. The program worked wonders for the prisoners. They became more responsible, caring and loving because of the pet. Now prisons are the least likeliest place to meet with genuine love. Except in this case–the prisoner felt selfless and caring love for the dog. It improved the demeanor and personality of the prisoners who had dogs and something to shine their love upon.
There are many instances where pets, namely cats and dogs, uplift and actually heal, lengthen and or improve life for seniors, people who are depressed, alone or sick. It is because love begins to be expressed through the person. There is a flow of love: The person gives and receives love. (Besides pets are loving beings as we are.)
Some Truths about Love — We can be alone and feel love and loved. There are unlimited ways in which we humans express the love inside ourselves. For instance, through cooking, small or any random acts of kindnesses, from giving a smile to opening a door for someone. Helping someone in need. Being appreciative and grateful just because you are alive and can. Giving a sincere compliment to caring for and loving a pet. Saying a prayer for your neighbor, a stranger, anyone or a loved one or friend are ways of letting love flow.
Furthermore, through our creative expressions we give love; such as quilting, painting, cleaning or tidying up a house or the outdoors. Writing poetry, essays, blogs and sending off thank you notes are acts of love. Singing is sharing love. Taking someone to dinner or organizing a party and being with friends and taking time to listen to others are all acts of love. Letting someone give to you is an act of love. And the list goes on and on…
What’s more, you feel love and loved when you do one small thing, open to love within yourself or ask the divine Presence, God are you here; God, do you love me?’
We can also begin to express love, feel love in our hearts when we start radiating it. As we give any Divine quality, we have the experience of that quality such as love.
“Let your Love Flow.” Love is not something to fear–that is an unhealthy, limiting thought to reject and release from our minds, belief system and hearts. Actually, when we call on the presence of God as love, any fear evaporates.
Enjoy your many facets and ways you express and give of the beloved love God has given uniquely to you. I love you! Know all of the Universe loves you. Love is right where you are because you are there and God is with and within you always.
“Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
And let your love grow with the smallest of dreams
And let your love show and you’ll know what I mean
It’s the season.” Taken from Bellamy Brothers Lyrics, third stanza of the song, “Let Your Love Flow.”
