“We listen within to be spiritually enriched; we listen in the outer to be a blessing.” —revfrieda. How is the skill of listening guiding you today? Some days it seems we long for inner wisdom and divine inspiration. On other days we desire to connect with people or the natural world around us.

Certainly, we offer a rich gift when we listen to others. People want recognition and like to be listened to and heard. It’s not about agreement. However, listening offers humans the opportunity to relate to one another. Getting to know someone by giving them our ear, is to validate them while acknowledging they are of value.

Our listening ability to hear within and in the outer are beyond measure. We understand more deeply and clearly by turning our attention Godward in prayer and in the quietude. This occurs  by being receptive to the divine communication tailor made for us at the moment.

We gain much through our faculty of listening. A practice we can apply is sitting in nature or wherever we are and focus on listening for sounds, the one’s not so obvious. The faint, a single bird chatter or song.

In addition, we can include in the practice being alert to hear the distant train whistle, the wind, the sound of faraway children playing or church bells ringing. Also we can hear through our receptivity nature’s messages on a walk or open to our intuitive voice.

Without a doubt, it is worthwhile to attune our ear for the rarified messages relating the not so common communications, feeding our souls. Likewise, in the many ways we hear and relate we expand and enrich each other and ourselves.
