The Mystic and the Prophet in Us
Mysticism defined: “The True mystic is always both humble and compassionate, for she knows that she does not know. –Richard Rohr.” “The Mystical Process is one of being lifted into an awareness of God’s presence. Spirit is our sufficiency, and when we are conscious of God, the challenges of life are met.” Our motive then is to ‘Know God.’ –Jim Rosemergy
Part II
Take these quotes by Meister Eckhart: “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough. God is at home, it’s we who have gone out for a walk. Only the hand that erases can write the true thing.” The words are universal and divinely inspired. If Meister Eckhart had not practiced living in God consciousness, we may not have been blessed with such simple and profound truth. He is a true mystic and prophet. Indeed his messages, talks and words spoken had to be written down, taken to heart and practiced. He spoke his inner truth to inspire and uplift others. Moreover, to make what he said credible, he had to practiced what he preached and speak from the illumined contents he received.
In terms of the ascent and descent–when we ascend in thought and prayer opening to Spirit divine to be filled with God presence, we need to carry it out in our lives — by living the light filled ideas we have been blessed with. Or, we need to bring the divine knowledge obtained into life. In this way we are being the prophet and extending the mystical light to others. Undeniably, the Bible prophets spoke what was in their heart for the purpose of guiding those around them.
For more on the mystic and the prophet united in oneness we turn to the New Testament book of John. It is considered a more mystical writing from an inspired and heavenly view of things. Whereas in the Gospel of Luke we see the author portraying Jesus as possessing a social conscience and doing social action out of Jesus’ love for the common people. He put to practice the divinely inspired intuitions and messages from ‘Abba Father within’ and the ‘Kingdom of God’ in his midst. Nevertheless, the way shower, Jesus did not let light stay within himself; he gave forth what he heard from on high inside himself. He had a social conscience and gave from his heavenly inspired and loving nature.
Without a doubt, when the minister at a board meeting begins the session with prayer and or a spiritual practice, she sets the tone and raises the intention to divine standards. The board follows the lead and looks to the spirit within in their conduct and business of the church. The divine light-filled ideas are carried out and put in practice in the items and decisions before them. Ideally, in church business no area is left out of spiritual guidance and direction. Our prophetic self to continue being divinely led, necessitates becoming a mystic and rising in consciousness for the purpose of knowing God more deeply and purely. Thus, being the enlightened hands, feet and intellect, bringing the truth into daily living and the activities at hand.
