Timeless Commitments
Marriages, graduations, schedule changes with the onset of summer—all have something in common, opportunities for an inner shift. What seems clear is each of these three call for a greater degree of commitment and flexibility with playfulness added to the mix.
It may feel sometimes as if commitment comes in increments and playfulness comes by choice. Perhaps, some newlyweds believe they are overflowing with inner commitment to their marriage. Then the first couple-crisis happens, which is certain to test one’s level of dedication.
In the case of the new graduate—comes the blessings and challenges of the profession, job, or chosen career. Similarly, it takes steadiness to stay the course for the fledgling graduate and also the newlyweds.
There is a component of disruption in these three happenings common to June. Our life changes.
What helps us when circumstances and people require greater commitment? It’s an inside job. We may receive inner guidance pointing to steadfastness in the expression of individual goodness and love. It also may require reflection time on the meaning of loyalty and the essence of devotion.
We may ask—what or who am I devoted to? Is it a person, a spiritual presence, or oneness of Spirit? Or all three? Cannot we be grounded in Spirit and claim our inner stability and realize it is a quality of divinity intimate to us, while being omnipresent within the marriage, the new schedule, and calling.
Closing (opening) prayer—I am up to the task at hand. Ready for the challenge and the glory of more intimate relationships, job assignments, and schedule shifts. There is an invincible spirit in me.
On the wings of inner insights and novel realizations I rise to the occasion and live blessed by peace, renewed pliability and centered in the inner being of love, light and faithfulness. I feel confident and committed. Thank you Spirit, Amen
