Hopefully when you think of the represented ideas that go with Father God, you think of light, loving, creative energy, Omniscience, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Abba Father. Perhaps you think of your own father or Jesus’ meaning of father. Sometimes the name father may bring up feelings we would rather not deal with.

Wherever you find yourself right now, I ask for your openness and current response to the name, Father. For there may not be too many of us who have not had to go through some kind of inner cleansing and even a re-birthing of a revised understanding and response to the name and meaning of ‘Father.’

Likewise, as we grow in divine light and spiritual depth, the name father takes on a rich character and renewed definition. Sometimes we have to release and dissolve the old interpretation for the new shining knowledge forming in us.

In regard to God as a synonym for ‘Father’ here are meditative words of clarity for and from Meister Eckhart:

“How should you love God? I will tell you. Love God as God is—this means: Love God as God is

A not-God; a not-mind; a not-person; a not-image.

More than this, love God as God is

A pure, clear One; who is separate from all twoness.”

I have begun with Father God rather than an earthly father because our interpretation of God as father can take on the traits and similarities of our experience and views of our actual birth father. Naturally, when we revise the relational meaning of Father God, our job in revising what we feel and think of our dad becomes easy and more grace-filled.  It is a sometimes painful journey; albeit, a very rewarding one, leading to the inner discovery and uncovering of the beloved and endearing true God of our being as well as a revised attitude toward our earthly father.

With this, our inner sight sharpens and the clearer perception within us awakens and reveals deeper beauty and admirable qualities about our birth father and or step-father.

I Corinthians 13:11—12 say it this way: When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

Honor your path of life, the experiences with your father or an absent father. And, also your inner process and revised view of your father and Father God.

Jesus revised the meaning of Father God for all time. It had to be a spiritual realization from within himself. For sure, he was not being modeled it by the men of his day, Roman, Jewish, and Religious.

Jesus lived in his own inspired relationship with God. He modeled a life being lived with a loving, all-gracious Father-Mother God. Radical for his time and in sync with today’s New Thought Spiritual identification with God.

The Jesus God is an approachable, easily relatable daddy God. A God that would deny us of no good thing; a Father God who is a loving Mother God too—Unconditional and with no strings attached. The God we inherit from Jesus’ wisdom is—Abba Father, a close, within, and ever near, responsive God whose image and likeness we have inherited.

We have the spiritual inheritance of a Kingdom of God within us—a treasured state to live in and from. It sounds like the enlightened and awakened states we hear of, have glimpses of, and desire to emulate. We are not alone in our spiritual walk and desire for a blissful-lived life. We have seen and unseen help and helpers, divine messages nudging us in the direction of the inner Kingdom.

God bless you wherever you are on the path of enlightenment. May you sincerely experience an all-loving and kind Father and Mother God, all giving and not even needing to forgive you because He and She ever holds and beholds you in Love and safe-keeping. Moreover, the Prodigal Son or Daughter story in Luke 15: 11—32 portrays both a heavenly Father and a biological father displayed in one character, who loves with a soft and healing mother warmth, closeness and tenderness.
