“Loved Ones.” Where would we be without our dear ones, loved ones in our lives. We care for them and shower our love upon them. They do the same in return. Loved ones are awesome.

At the onset of 911 when the New York Twin Towers were hit and crumbling downward my first thoughts were are my loved ones safe. I had to call them; and they called me.

In the first minutes and hours following the 911 attacks to the Twin Towers the Country did not clearly know yet what was happening. Was this the onset of a foreign attack, was this the beginning of a war? We did not know for awhile. The Houston area where I live felt vulnerable with all our oil storage and wells. I know other areas across the Country felt scared too.

Most all of us did not want to be alone. We wanted our loved ones near. Why? For inner peacefulness and security, knowing they are well. The idea of support and sharing our fears and overwhelmed state was helpful and gave a feeling of well-being.

I recall the special church service Unity of Houston gave soon after 911. During the service the attendees joined hands in a circle and were lead in prayer. Hand in hand felt mightily empowering and gave us a sense of ease within.

Loved ones and friends comforted one another. No doubt 911 lives on in all our memories as the USA is not used to being attached. Just as the California Coast felt vulnerable to attacks during WW-2, we had to shake off fear during and after 911. Things, storms, crises come up in daily lives.

If we had to bear life alone, these times would seem overwhelming I’m certain. Let’s make a commitment to tell our loved ones and dear friends what they mean to us. They give their talents, time, appreciation, gifts and love to us spontaneously and unscripted.

Let’s love them dearly and tell them so. Let’s give them surprise little somethings, presents and such out of nowhere. Most of all we share with them as best we can how empty and maybe even meaningless our lives would be without them.

People want and need to be appreciated and loved. And we do just that. Have fun with giving your love in ways that say–Thank you for being you and for being my loved one(s), my dear friend. “Everyday I discover more in life to value.” DW.
