Our lives are filled with green. Opening a window shade in the morning, I see green grass. Along with this I see freshly formed and shiny tender leaves on trees and shrubs.

Hopefully when we open our wallets they are filled with green-backs and various denominations of cash. Nutritionists encourage us to eat green-leafy veges, spinach and salads rich with green shades. Some of us have green eyes along with the color green on articles of clothing, which accentuate a person’s green eye color.

Light green wall paint is a calming color. And, green eyes can look like jewels and arts of beauty. We like landscape pictures and scenes splashed with lush green fields and meadows. Golf courses of green are scenic assets to any walker or passer-by.

Also important, life would not be possible without the natural plant kingdom and green-growing things. Leafy green vegetation sustains life on our planet, yours mine and all human beings and life forms.

Green plants, leafy plants have the unique built-in capacity to generate their own food through the innate process of photosynthesis. We humans are indebted to nature’s green and growing life—a plant life who takes in carbon dioxide and gives out needed oxygen to sustain all life, including human beings.

Therefore, next time we get frustrated at the big deal and contentious discussion of climate change think of the dinosaurs who went extinct due to meteor dust choking the plant vegetation and destroying their main food source.

Moreover, green became linked and significant with Ireland during the Irish Independence Movement in the late 18th century. Further, could we have as much fun and enjoyment on St. Patrick’s day without the color green being warn by the Irish and everyone wishing to be linked to Ireland, along with those simply wanting to enjoy a happy day filled with myth and light-heartedness.
