Jesus’s healing ministry came about through faith in the power of divine life within all people. Similarly, the Unity Movement came into being because Myrtle Fillmore was healed from tuberculosis through prayer, affirmation, and the belief that she could be completely healed.

One day not long ago, I had a healing need. A lab test showed pre-cancerous cells in my womb area. I prayed for calmness and guidance. At my doctor’s suggestion, I began taking folic acid and vitamin E. I also made an appointment to see a gynecologist.

Then, as now, I was a New Thought leader.  So, concurrently, I visualized my body filled with divine light and perfect cells—whole in every way. I used affirmative prayer: I am God’s beloved daughter. I am kept whole, well, and free of disorder and disease. I am well, praise God I am well!

On the day I was to be examined by a specialist, I drove to her office while picturing a clear image of flawless substance and life not only in my womb area, but also as the living truth for my entire physical body.

The doctor visit proved fascinating, as high-tech methods were used for the exam. During the doctor’s examination, a wall-monitor screen revealed a picture of my healthy womb. There it was, a literal image of wellness! My eyes teared up with joy. I left the office with exam results that were clear of any abnormalities.

It is easy to rejoice over a good report. Yet even before there is outer proof, one can experience inner validation from Spirit within. In quiet moments of prayer, the still small voice within announces the truth about each one of us: We are made perfect. We are kept in divine care and enfolded in comfort and strengthening love. Within the radiant substance of our holy body temple are pure love and life, and dancing, happy cells, atoms and subatomic particles that make up our miraculous physical being.

Along with positive visualization, I practice seeing absolute good. I form a picture in my mind, and bring forth the feeling or sense the truth of wholeness. I go apart and meditate on the meaning of wholeness. I consider what wholeness looks like. Where is healthiness in the presence of illness?

On my healing journey, I visualized wellness inside and out. In time, the image of unblemished life became clear and out-pictured in my body. While envisioning wholeness, I also studied Unity writings on healing and the healing stories of others, which further bolstered my faith.

Through a belief in God’s goodness and trust in the presence of healed and whole life within us, our faith grows. We come to acknowledge the Christ life, the image and likeness of divine Spirit within ourselves and within all people as the absolute reality of our physical completeness and entire being. If doubt or fear arise, we return to God in prayerful moments, revitalizing our clarity and unwavering faith.

In quiet moments of prayer, the still small voice within announces the truth about each one of us: We are made perfect.
