Too much of the time we focus on the spot on the floor and miss the beautiful floor it rests on–there is so much good in our lives. Somehow though and too many times we may look at the one not so nice or bad thing that happened or that is going on in our lives, that captures much of our attention.

We can change the habit. It is like the one naughty kid in the room, getting the attention. What happened to the rest of the class behaving well. They need to be praised and acknowledged for how supportive and cooperative the majority of the students are acting.

Most of the time it takes effort to turn from our focus of the spot on the blackboard and look at the clean area instead. The idea pertains to our day and lives. Where is our focus–on the mistakes and goofs or our fortunate experiences and triumphs. In looking at what we do well, it lifts us up and prepares us for repetitive successful happenings and outcomes. We are the guide of our mind and captain of our thoughts and lives.

Give thanks for the rest of the floor that is clean. In that way, we have more aliveness inside to enjoy the beauty and see the good in front of us. With an event or project well-done, decide to learn from any challenging moments and move on quickly to celebrate the numerous moments of accomplishment and treasured occurrences and interactions.

It’s a matter of what we value. Success comes from piled up wholesome ideas and actions fulfilled, bringing more light, joy, prosperity, creature comforts, and one-on-one human empathy and kindnesses shared and given.
