“Remember to play after (or during) every storm.” —Mattie Stepanek

Dear Reader — This Truth Message is an exception from the norm. May you receive blessings from the message.

Beginning Thursday afternoon until late Friday evening the Northwest Houston area including our home town of Magnolia had a total rainfall of 21.4 inches of rain. I have heard it was a 500 year storm. Good did arise due to the storm. I connected with friends and relatives whom I had not communicated with recently. Hubby and I decided to move forward and modernize our septic system and have installed an Aerobic Septic System.

What’s more, Friday we could not return home after a day of errands out of town. A creek overflowed on a main road we travel to return home. Other routes home were out of the question due to overflowing water banks everywhere in the area.

Therefore Friday turned into a day of adventure, fun and making due without the necessary toiletries, vitamins, change of clothes and other creature comforts. We were planning to return home that day and did not plan otherwise. We exercised our resourcefulness and made a good time of it until Saturday morning and the routes home continued to be blocked by water. That is when determination and seeking answers from a policeman paid off. Saturday afternoon we learned of another route home. Albeit, a longer route, yet it worked. With no water covering the new route, we made it home.

Another gift received was appreciation to have a home high and dry with no major streams or lakes nearby to cause our homestead damage. The large amount of fallen water was enough to deal with. Many people had much worse problems with flooding and destruction to their personal assets and dwelling place. We count ourselves fortunate and are grateful.

Furthermore, the deluge was cleansing for people and nature. Nature cleansed the outdoors: We had not had but one night in the winter months below 32 degrees. This storm cleaned, polished and prepared the way for mother nature to release the old and renew the plants, soil, and animal kingdom while spreading her blessings to those humans willing to be open and receive the gifts from the storm.

You are appreciated and thought well of. Abundant blessings, Rev Frieda, 5-28-16.
